| The Name "Sheltowee Trace" "Sheltowee" was the name the Shawnee native American tribe gave to wilderness explorer Daniel Boone when he was captured and taken prisoner. The Shawnee chief admired and respected Boone so much that he adopted him as his "son" and gave him the name "Sheltowee" which means "Big Turtle." |

Since this property was purchased four years ago it has become a labor of love. The house had been left neglected for several years and was in disrepair when it was purchased. The logs were weathered and there were holes where animals could enter and make themselves at home. Bats, chipmunks and flying squirrels were the residence of this log dwelling. Restoration of the logs was the first order of business, as well as a new kitchen, windows, and roof. All the logs were chinked to secure the cabin. The fireplaces were added later, and the pool restored. Four years later our dream home has become a reality. We continue to have new project visions. This spring we will be finishing the deck painting around the pool and landscaping, building a patio out the basement French doors to the pool, and completing the stonework on the basement door walls. Enjoy your stay here, take in the natural setting and we hope you love it as much as we do.
Remember, not all who wander are lost.
